1. Navigating to Table Settings
There are three main entry points depending on what you're configuring:
Employees page table settings: Go to Company → Employees, then access Table Settings (admin-only)
Comp cycle column configuration: Go to Reviews → [Your Cycle] → Setup → Views, then select the specific tab (Salary, Bonus, Equity, Promotions, Summary, etc.)
Glossary, field renaming & tooltips: Go to Settings → Company → Headers & Tooltips
2. Renaming Key Terms in the Glossary
Navigate to Settings → Company → Headers & Tooltips. At the top you'll find the Company Glossary, where you can rename four core terms used throughout the platform:
employee(e.g., rename to "team member")salary(e.g., rename to "base pay")equity(e.g., rename to "stock")share(e.g., rename to "unit")
These renames apply globally — every place the platform uses these terms will reflect your custom labels, including pluralized and capitalized versions.
3. Renaming Individual Columns (Outside the Glossary)
On the same page, below the glossary you'll find a Headings and Tooltips section. This lets you customize the label for individual fields, including:
System fields (built-in columns like department, title, etc.)
Custom fields (any fields your company has added)
Pay point fields (from pay range sets)
Benefit definition fields
Performance questions and performance cycle fields
Just click on the field you want to rename, update the label, and save.
4. Adding Tooltips to Columns
On the same Headings and Tooltips section, each field has a Tooltip column alongside the field name columns.
How to add a tooltip:
Find the field you want to add a tooltip for
Click into the Tooltip column for that field
Enter your tooltip text — this supports Markdown formatting, so you can use bold, links, lists, etc.
Save your changes
Where tooltips appear in the platform:
Tooltips show up on column headers across all tables that use that field — including the Employees page table and comp cycle tables (Salary, Bonus, Equity, etc.)
Columns that have a tooltip will display a subtle underline on the header text as a visual indicator to users
When a user hovers over an underlined column header, the tooltip appears as a styled popover showing the Markdown-rendered description
This works consistently across all tables in the platform, so a tooltip set once will appear everywhere that field is used as a column
5. Column Visibility on the Employees Page
Navigate to Company → Employees → Table Settings. Here you can:
Reorder columns via drag-and-drop
Pin columns to the left or right of the table
Set visibility for each column using the following options:
Visibility Option | Description |
Show | Always visible to everyone |
Initial Hide | Hidden by default, but users can manually show it |
Admin Only | Visible only to company admins |
Admin Only Initial Hide | Only admins can see it, and it's hidden by default even for them |
Always Hide | Never shown to anyone |
6. Column Visibility Within a Comp Cycle
Navigate to Reviews → [Your Cycle] → Setup → Views. Each comp cycle has multiple tabs (Salary, Bonus, Equity, Promotions, Summary, Overview, Award Letters, and any custom tabs). For each tab you can:
Reorder columns via drag-and-drop to control the column order
Add or remove columns from the tab
Pin columns to the left or right
Set visibility per column using the same options as the employees page:
Visibility Option | Description |
Show | Always visible to everyone |
Initial Hide | Hidden by default, but users can manually show it |
Admin Only | Visible only to company admins |
Admin Only Initial Hide | Only admins can see it, and it's hidden by default even for them |
Always Hide | Never shown to anyone |
Each tab has its own independent column configuration, so you can show different columns on the Salary tab vs. the Equity tab, for example. The platform also generates sensible defaults for each tab (e.g., equity-related fields default to visible on the Equity tab but hidden on the Salary tab).
