Enabling 15Five Private Manager Assessment questions (PMAs)

How to pull 15Five private manager assessment data into your tables.

Your 15Five PMAs can be pulled into Comprehensive and displayed as columns in all tables. Since the full review questions are used as column headers by default, we recommend renaming them to short labels and adding the full question as a tooltip.

This is a two-step process: first enable the performance data, then clean up the column names.

Step 1: Enable performance data

  1. Go to Settings → Performance

  2. Find the 15Five performance cycle you want to pull data from and expand it

  3. Use the checkboxes to select the individual PMAs you'd like to enable

Once enabled, these PMAs will appear as columns that can be added to any table in your account.

Step 2: Rename the column headers

By default, the full review question becomes the column header - which is usually way too long to be useful in a table. We recommend condensing each one to 1 to 3 words and putting the full question in as a tooltip.

  1. Go to Settings → Headings and tooltips

  2. Scroll down to find your newly enabled performance fields in the list - they'll appear with the full question text as the field name

  3. For each one, click the edit icon next to the field name, replace the long question with a short 1 to 3 word label (e.g., "Overall rating", "Growth areas", "Manager score"), then click the checkmark to save

  4. Add the full question as a tooltip: in the Tooltip column for that same field, click + Add tooltip, paste in the full original question text so reviewers can hover to see it, then click the checkmark to save

Example

Original column header

Renamed to

Tooltip

"How would you rate this employee's overall performance against expectations for their role?"

"Overall rating"

"How would you rate this employee's overall performance against expectations for their role?"

Tips

  • Renames and tooltips are company-wide - they'll apply everywhere the field appears, not just one cycle

  • Columns with tooltips show a dotted underline on the header, so proposers and approvers know to hover for more info

  • To add the performance columns to a specific cycle table, go to your cycle → Setup → Views and click Add columns
